I have a John Deere 310A TLB. Serial number: 310AD 288128T. can anyone tell me the year?

Looking for a service manual for this machine. anyone have one they would like to sell or tell me where to find one at a price less than what John Deere wants?

Where is the hydraulic pickup screen located?

The hydraulics chatter about half way up. both the backhoe and loader do this. seems like it is starving for oil? Any help appreciated!

Thanks for any help!
Gary

Plugged screen would be the first thing I'd check. When it plugs, the hydraulics will work fine at first, but then when part-way through a function - the front pump runs out of oil and things stop working as they should.

It is at the bottom of the transmission case and goes in sideways. There will be plug you remove, and then pull it out. You'll need to drain the entire trans to get it out. Often, you'll find it plugged with brake lining material, cylinder packing pieces, etc.

I've got a complete Deere 300B backhoe/loader service manual in a PDF file. I'd give it to you except I cannot send files that large from my satellite Internet connection. 300B is very similar to your machine. Tech manual is 68 megabytes and the operators manual is 12 Megabytes.

Send me a blank CD with a self-addressed envelope and I'll burn and send you a copy.

By the way, my 300B is serial # 141965T and is a 1972 machine. Has the 152 c.i., three-cylinder diesel. 310A was made 1975 to 1982. Sounds like your's is a 1978 vintage.

Thanks for all the comments!
I have sent you an email with my email address.

The 310A has a 4 cylinder engine. I think that the plain 310 has a 3 cylinder engine. I am surprised that the 310B also has a 3 cylinder?

The company name is a combination of those of its founders. Nightmare published 23 issues and Scream put out 11 issues. Wizard magazine download pdf It also published a small line of comic books and other magazines. The company lasted through the end of 1974 or early 1975, with Psycho #24 (March 1975) its final publication. Skywald's first publication was Nightmare #1 (Dec.

I looked on the John Deere site at their parts manual to try and locate where the pickup screen is located but could not find where it is.

Thanks for the help!
Gary

300B is what I have. Deere made a zillion variations of Dubque-type backhoe loaders. Some with three-banger and some with four. 300, 301, 302, 310, 400, 401, 410, all kinds of As. Bs. Cs. etc. All pretty much use the same basics for the trans, reverser, hydraulics, rear, etc.

You're looking in the wrong place. For the 310A, Deere shows it their parts under 'F' for 'filter, transmission case.'

Item # 9, Deere part # AR26375.

I didn't get any forwarded email - but it seems I never do with this Website. Lots of people say they've sent me email, but I've never gotten any.

I'll try your's.

Rarely is the suction screen the cause of hydraulic problems.Unless the oil is crappy looking.Usually the problem lies with pressure adjustments or pressure control valve poppet being stuck in the spool bore.Or maybe the transmission pump isn't supplying a constant volume of oil due to stuck filter relief valve.I've seen the destroking solenoid cause this too.. Take your pick..You can't guess at this..You will have to put gauges in the pump and troubleshoot the problem. There are many posts in the 'archives' that will help you figure out your hydraulic woes..

Your John Deere tractor vehicle identification number is also known as a product identification number, serial number or lawn mower identification number. These 13 to 17 letters and numbers can provide important information about your tractor, such as the year it was made, where the engine was manufactured, its emission levels, its security code and its transmission designation. In addition, each serial number is unique to a specific mower, and can be used to track and identify your machine.

  1. Locate the VIN according to your specific John Deere tractor. For John Deere steel-deck walk-behind mowers, stand behind the mower and locate the VIN on the left side of the mower deck. For John Deere 100 Series tractors, stand behind the tractor and locate the VIN on the frame near the back left wheel. For John Deere zero-turn mowers, face the back of the mower, lift the seat and locate the VIN at the top of the frame on the right side. All VINs are on a sticker that states 'Manufactured by John Deere.' Most VINs will be either 13 or 17 letters or numbers, but units built in the '60s and '70s may only have five or six letters or numbers.

  2. Identify the first two letters or numbers in a 13-symbol VIN or the first three letters or numbers in a 17-symbol VIN; this is the factory code (also known as engine manufacturer). For instance, in the John Deere VIN CD6068G123456, CD is the factory code, and mowers with the factory code CD were manufactured Saran, France.

  3. Identify the next four letters and numbers after the factory code, which will be positions three to six in a 13-symbol VIN, or positions four to seven in a 17-symbol VIN. This is the model number. For instance, in the John Deere VIN CD6068G123456, 6068 is the model number.

  4. Identify the letter in position seven in a 13-symbol VIN. This is the emissions level designation. In order of least to highest emissions, B means the mower is non-emissions certified; C means it's a Tier 1; G is Tier 2 and L is Tier 3. For instance, in the John Deere VIN CD6068G123456, G indicates a Tier 2 emissions level. VINs with 17 letters and numbers do not have an emissions level designation.

  5. Identify the last six letters and numbers in a 13-symbol VIN or the last five digits in a 17-symbol VIN. This is the serial number and is unique to your specific tractor. The serial number can be used to track and identify individual John Deere tractors.

  6. Identify the letter and numbers in positions nine through 12 in a 17-symbol VIN. In order, these identify the security code, calender year of manufacture, transmission code, and wheel or track designation. The calender year of manufacture will be denoted by an A for 2010, B for 2011 and so on. The transmission code will be denoted with an A, C, D, E, H, P or R. The wheel or track designation will denote a 0 for wheel or a 9 for track. VINs with 13 letters and numbers do not include this information.

  7. Tip

For information regarding older John Deere tractors with codes that have five or six numbers and letters, visit your local John Deere dealership or contact John Deere through its online customer service form.

Interpretations of the transmission code of a 17-symbol John Deere VIN is:

    A = AutoQuad with left-hand reverser C = CommandQuad D = IVT E = Scraper tractor configuration H = PowrQuad or Manual Shift transmission P = PowerShift transmission R = PowrQuad with left-hand reverser
