View and Download Boston Acoustics VR1 instruction manual online. Boston Acoustics VR1, VRC, VR 2, VRB, VR3 User Manual. Size: 297.04 Kb. VR1, VR2, VR3 VRB, VRC. High Performance Home Theater Loudspeakers. 40 lbs (19kg) 45 lbs (21kg). Boston Acoustics Vr 40 Manual. Electronics service manual exchange: schematics, datasheets, diagrams, repairs, schema, service manuals, eeprom bins, pcb as well as service mode entry, make to model. Here’s a great drop in price on our best looking pick for outdoor speaker, making for the lowest price we’ve seen in years.

I have the Boston VR-920 Center Channel, Boston PV-600 Subwoofer in my system and I like both of them just fine. Only you would know by listening to them if it would be a down grade. La caida del crack de 1929. But if the manual is correct, it sure does have preouts for all 7 channels and a sub. So, I obviously have zero experience with anything beyond an all-in-one. I purchased a new pair of Boston Acoustics A40 in 1986. By 2000 the foam surrounds had given way. Boston Acoustics fine customer service department sold me replacement drivers, which by then had rubber surrounds. I replaced the drivers, and the speakers rendered fine service for another decade.

A little worried as the amps in these are getting a little old. Also didn't they have foam surrounds on the radiator (but not the other drivers). Did they change that on VR975?
My VR960 amp is still working fine (as I knock on MDF).
Thanks for your insight!

Great question, I have wondered that too. I have not removed the 'socks' cloth off of them, so I do not know if any of the surrounds are foam. The 970s I have worked great when I last used them a few years back. They have been sitting in a spare room in the house (must be in AC, I cannot leave my electronics in the garage, even in Southern California). The amps were never an issue.
I have heard of amps going out on the BA PV1000 subwoofer, and have even had one of mine replaced, plus one spare amp board that I purchased (I have 3 of the PV1000 in use).
Hope to see this thread more active. BA had some awesome products.

Wikipedia is reporting that Boston Acoustics is being shuttered by parent company Sound United, but they don't provide any attribution for the claim.
Anyone know what's going on?

As of June 2018, Sound United had discontinued Boston shipments to its dealers without notice, effectively bringing an end to the brand.

Just checked their website. Still up but everything I look at is out of stock. A sad ending for what was once a great speaker company.

Hey guys, new to the forum and need a lil advice. My current set up is VR940, CR75, and a PV600 powered by a Yamaha RX-V465 AVR. I'd like to get away from the AVR and go to a preamp/power amp 2.1ch set up just for listening to music. I've been looking at some of the more entry level manufacturers such Adcom and AudioSource(OSD?). If anyone has any experience with these speakers and the system I'm shooting for, amp suggestions would be a great help. Thanx in advance.

If this true then its indeed very sad news I've been a fan and owner since the late 90's to present with my E100's /VR12 and M50 surrounds. No plans to change but will be difficult shoes to fill if I try one day, again

Same boat for me. My main rig is VR-M60s fronts, VR-M50s rears, VRC centre. Will run them as long as I can, but if I expand from 5.1 to Atmos, it will be less than ideal.

In addition to the Bostons i mentioned ,I've successfully been running them in an 7.1.4 Atmos setup, I choose Canton's for my 4 overheads and use a pair of Energy bi-pole/di-poles for my side surrounds. Audyssey does a pretty good job of timber matching and the bubble of sound in just incredible, all have aluminium tweeters and figured this will be as good as it gets till I can get lucky on ebay or some other source for speakers to fill those gaps.

The A-series is being cleared out at accessories4less.com at 50% off.
Polk Audio may be next.

Hey all,
I'm looking for some thoughts from fellow BA fans on an issue that I'm racking my brain about.
I've had a pair of VRS surrounds for over a decade now and I absolutely love them. However; in my last move I seem to have lost the mounts for them. As many of you may know, this is not an easy speaker to mount, especially to a ceiling as my new theater will require. I have some ideas but I'd like some other enthusiast help before I go bending metals in a Home Depot aisle
I've tried reaching out to BA, unfortunately in their new form customer service doesn't seem to be high on the list of needs.
So; does anyone know where to find replacement mounts or even something other than OEM that could work?
For the uninitiated, I've attached an image.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Long shot, I know, but options are limited..
I have an MSubwoofer in the shop for repairs, but there's apparently something broken in the amp and the shop is telling me they can't repair it since the part is no longer made and there is no schematic available. Anyone know how to get their hands on the schematic for an MSubwoofer?
Thanks for any help!

Love my BA speakers but seriously that sub is just not worth repairing. Any $500 sub you buy today will destroy it.

Google RSL speedwoofer, SVS, HSU Research and Emotive and compare specs and reviews. That's a start. RSL pretty amazing for $399

Boston Acoustics Vr 40 Manual Pdf

Hey all.
I’m having some issue with my system. I have a Denon 1400-h , Boston VR3s a VR12 center, Sony SSCS5 surrounds, and a Klipsch SW-350.
I’ve ran Audyssey several times and it keeps giving my VR12 a crossover of 150. I don’t know what is wrong because that can’t be correct, right? It’s giving appropriate crossovers for my other speakers so it’s not a mic problem. Also I have a VR920 as well so I was curious if I the VR12 or the 920 fits better with the VR3s?
Thanks
Logan

Where / how is the center mounted? Anyway just go into manual settings and change crossover to whatever you want to. Probably 80

It’s mounted below the tv via wall mount. But if I just lower it to 80 won’t there be a gap between 150-80?

Setting it at 80 means it will handle the frequencies above and to that point. Your sub will handle everything below. What are the mains set at?

I raised the mains to 60 after Audyssey set them to 40. I’m just having a hard time with lowering the crossover because I’ve read several times that you should not lower the crossover below what Audyssey recommends or they’re will be a gap.

If you leave the crossover at 150 you are eliminating any possibility of the center playing anything below that frequency and forcing your sub to attempt to play a frequency higher than it will effectively do, and also raise the possibility of those frequencies being 'localized' and audibly (and poorly) being played by the sub. Read a few threads..many people, including myself, set and forget all speakers at 80, with the possible exception of extremely small surrounds that spec out at having virtually no output below a frequency, of, say, 120hz. Crossover points are very tweakable..set your speakers at various crossover points while playing music or movies you know well, and determine for yourself what sounds good to you. You won't and can't break anything by experimenting.

Folks - please forgive my ignorance, as I don't anything at all about speakers and HT. Hoping you guys can advise a novice:
I inherited a HT setup with the following equipment:
- 2 Boston Acoustics VR 35
- Boston Acoustics VR 14
- Boston Acoustics MX 145
These are currently connected to a Yamaha RX-V679BL receiver.
I can't find any manuals or instructions online for these speakers, but they seem to be well reviewed in this forum.
I was hoping folks might be able to help me with the following questions:
(1) Why do the Boston Acoustics VR 35's have 4 inputs? I would have expected two: one R, one L? Are they bi-amped? Do both pairs of input need to be connected?
- Currently, only one R/L pair is connected.
- If the second pair needs to be connected, which output should they connect to on the receiver?
(2) What is the filter knob behind the subwoofer for? The woofer only seems to turn on if I have the filter knob all the way.
Thanks!

You inherited some quality speakers!!
The VR 35's have 4 binding posts for those who wish ti bi-wire or bi-amp.
As long as those brassy-looking straps run between the upper and lower set of posts, you only need the two connected.
Those straps are removable if you want to get fancy.
Here is a good tutorial:
https://www.audioholics.com/frequent..ng-vs-biwiring
I'll let wiser subscribers deal with the sub. I don't have one.
Congratulations.

Hello BA Fans
Can anyone let me know what the next step up in quality and size would be from the micro 90 center I currently use. Used, new or vintage.
The micro Hasa very good tone that I’d like to replicate with a bit more volume and punch.
Alternatively has anyone posted a subjective hierarchy list of BA centers..?

If you want to stay with BA I would say to check out the A225C center as you can still find new ones of those while they last. I love my Micro 80's but i am currently looking elsewhere for a mismatched center because I think center speaker are a weak point in BA's lines. You could also use a single A26 or A25 bookshelf speaker as a center channel as well.

I still have a set of VR-950 speakers I bought new in 2002/2003 timeframe. it was a 5.1 system and I also had the CRC center and micro 90 rears and PV600 sub. I use this setup with a Yamaha RX-760 upstairs in the living room if the home I purchased 2 years ago. It also has a small home theatre in the basement with Infinti SM-125s and generic in ceiling surrounds that came with the house. They haven't lived up to my expectations and I started scouring for used Boston speakers over the last 6 months. Today I took delivery of a mint condition VR-12 center and two near mint VR-950 towers for $150. what a steal!! I also found another set of VR-950s for $160 about a month ago. I could now run a 7.2 setup with VR-950s all around, VR12 center, the PV600 and.. hmm.. not sure what sub to buy. I have a JBL my brother gave me in the basement theatre.. I'd like to have two subs in both areas. My thought process on that - I can not turn up the gain on the subs as much and not risk distortion. but with two I get more of the clear bass I enjoy. thoughts?

for subs I would start by checking out this one:
https://www.accessories4less.com/mak..ack-new/1.html
I find BA's to be very natural sounding other subs that I would consider using would be depending on goals and budget:
RSL Speedwoofer 10S
Emotiva BasX S10
Rthymik LV12R
If you more of a HT guy I would include Hsu Research in the list.
